Zoobooks Magazine

Zoobooks Magazine

Description:
Our History...
It's been a long time since John Wexo first came up with the idea for Zoobooks while standing in front of a primate enclosure at the zoo. Back then, in 1980, his idea was simple: to create a colorful, concise, informative series of animal books that could be impulsively purchased at the very spot interest was highest-at the animal enclosures themselves, through vending machines.

Before long, the vending machine idea gave way to subscription sales, and Zoobooks was soon being shipped to hundreds of thousands of subscribers around the country. To meet the clamoring demand of librarians, the first hardcover editions of Zoobooks were produced in 1983, which only further whetted the public's appetite. By 1985 the first foreign market, Japan, was penetrated with excellent results-and now Zoobooks are available around the world in nine languages.

Our subscribers, still in the hundreds of thousands, continue to faithfully collect the series-our foreign markets remain strong, and our award-winning website receives more and more visitors every day. Welcome to the world of Zoobooks!

Zoobooks is the everything-you-wanted-to-know-but-didn't-know-where-to-look children's resource for animals. Each issue delves into topics such as anatomy, habitat, socialization, and reproduction-all on a single animal or animal group-in a vibrant, easy-to-understand way. The series is produced by Wildlife Education, Ltd., a company first established in 1980. Hardcover library editions of the series were first produced in 1983, and the first foreign language translation, in Japanese, appeared in 1985. Presently Zoobooks are available worldwide in any of nine different languages.
